Boards
Board size depends on the rider's age and weight. The Xplor Kid (7'6") is designed for children ages 5–10 up to 100 lbs. The Youth (9') is perfect for teenagers and lighter adults up to 200 lbs. Contact us if you need help choosing.
For recreational paddling, inflatable SUPs offer several advantages: they're lighter, more portable, easier to transport, and more forgiving when bumped against rocks or docks. Hard boards offer more performance for racing or surfing, but for families and recreational use, inflatables are an excellent choice.
Using the included pump, inflation takes approximately 10–15 minutes. The Kid board inflates to 12–15 PSI and the Youth board to 12–15 PSI. We recommend a paddleboard-specific electric pump for faster inflation if you plan to paddle frequently.
A kid paddle board is designed for smaller, lighter riders who need a shorter, narrower, easier-to-handle board. A youth paddle board is a step up for older kids and teens who need more length, stability, and room to grow. In general, younger riders ages 5–10 fit best on a kid board, while older or taller riders usually do better on a youth board.
Inflatable paddle boards can be a great choice for kids when the board is properly sized and used with adult supervision, a correctly fitted life jacket, and calm water conditions. Many families prefer inflatable boards because they are softer and lighter than hard boards, which can help younger paddlers feel more comfortable.
If your child has outgrown a smaller kid board, needs more weight capacity, or wants a board that tracks better and feels more stable over longer paddles, a youth SUP is usually the right next step. Height, confidence on the water, and overall size matter more than age alone. If you are unsure, contact us and we can help with sizing.
For most children ages 5 to 10, the best paddle board is one that is shorter, lighter, and easier to turn than a full adult board. Our 7'6" Kid board is designed specifically for younger paddlers up to 100 lbs so they can learn with better control and confidence.
Care & Repair
Rinse with fresh water after each use, especially after saltwater or lake sessions. Use a mild soap if needed. Dry completely before rolling and storing. Never store in direct sunlight for extended periods as UV exposure degrades the PVC material over time.
Every Xplor board comes with a repair kit including PVC patches and glue. Small punctures can be repaired in minutes. Inflate the board, locate the leak with soapy water (bubbles will appear), deflate, clean the area, apply the patch with adhesive, and allow to cure for 24 hours before use.
